King Bhumbibol's 75th birthday

A stage bedecked with royal portraits

One of many strokes of luck while in Thailand was that I arrived in time for the King's birthday. 75 isn't a significant year to Thais, who work in cycles of 12 (making the 6th cycle, i.e. 72, the most recent big landmark), but even so Bangkok celebrates the royal birthday in style.
