The New Territories

Plaster detail work from an old mansion in the New Territories

The New Territories are the part of Hong Kong that the British government leased from China rather than seizing outright. Because they cover a larger area and weren't subjected to the same level of development pressure through the 20th Century as Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, there is far more traditional Chinese architecture left here.
