Augmented reality

I’m in love with these photos by Barry Underwood:

The combination of ordinary landscape photography, albeit done well in interesting places, with the slight unreality of long exposures and the extreme unreality of his interventions in the landscape is reminding me of the Chinese pictorialist stuff I was drooling over a couple of months ago and of Chihuly’s occasional shows in parks. It’s not that they look alike at all, but I appreciate the way Underwood and Chihuly arrange entirely unsubtle and non-naturalistic interventions to work with the scene they find waiting for them.
